A new study from Datadipity has ranked the biggest texting turn-offs for men and women when flirting over text and found that there is one thing everyone agrees on: funky spelling is not sexy.
To analyze the nation’s digital flirting prowess, Datadipity asked 1,000 Americans about their turn-ons, turn-offs, and preferences when texting with a potential mate.
Here’s how men and women differed:

#1: Funky or very informal spelling (58% disapproval rating)
#2: Multiple exclamation points in chat messages!!!!! (47% disapprove)
#3: Lack of punctuation and grammar (46% disapprove)
#4: all lower case words (41% disapprove)
#5: Excessive slang — LOL, BRB, WTF (40% disapprove)

#1: Funky or very informal spelling (73% disapproval rating)
#2: Lack of punctuation and grammar (59% disapprove)
#3: Excessive slang (54% disapprove)
#4: Messages during sleeping hours (51% disapprove)
#5: all lower case words (50% disapprove)
So no matter who you’re wooing, keep the spelling on point, the punctuation perfect, the caps in the right places, the exclamation points to a minimum, and the messages to a reasonable hour, and you’ll be a digital flirting star.
